NITRIDING STEELS
Nitriding steels are special alloy steels designed in accordance with the nitriding (nitridation) heat treatment applied to increase surface hardness.
These alloys gain high wear resistance, fatigue strength and corrosion resistance by forming an extremely hard nitride layer on the surface after nitriding.
The steel core retains its original toughness and strength. They are generally preferred in the manufacture of parts exposed to high friction and wear, such as gears, shafts, extrusion screws and barrels.
